The Nutrition Research Information  Network (NUTRINET) conducted a Seminar-Workshop on Data Visualization for Social Media Content Production. This was conducted in partnership with Department of Health-Knowledge Management and Information Technology Service (DOH-KMITS) and Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI). It was held on May 21-23, 2019 at the One Vittoria Hotel, National Highway, Bantay, Ilocos Sur.

The main objective of the seminar-workshop was to improve the technical skills of NUTRINET Technical Committee members on data presentation and marketing of resource centers and libraries using infographics.

Dr. Milflor S. Gonzales, Chair of NUTRINET Technical Committee and Chief Science Research Specialist of the DOST-FNRI, welcomed the participants. In her message, she thanked DOH-KMITS for being the major sponsor of the seminar-workshop. She also said that the seminar-workshop is not the traditional seminar-workshop for library or information resource center staff because information resource sharing is not just about the physical collection. She stressed the need to maximize the use of information and communication technology to market the services and collection of libraries and information centers. She ended her message by presenting the audio visual presentation about the Network.

The resource persons of the seminar-workshop were Mr. Jose Rey Y. Alo, e-Learning Process Adviser of DA-ATI, Ms. Charity L. Tan, Information Officer V of DOH-KMITS, and Mr. Kenneth Pierre B. Quijalvo, Information Systems Researcher I of DOK-KMITS.

Topics presented in the seminar-workshop included: (1) FOURmula One Plus, (2) Universal Health Care Act, (3) 2019 Digital Report & Social Media in the Philippines, (4) Social Media  Etiquette, (5) Social Media Posting  Strategy & Tools for Unattended Posting, (6) Data Visualization and Infographics, (7) Health Dashboard, (8) Relevance of Visualized Data in Resource Centers, (9) Design Tips and (10) Free Tools for  Creating Infographics. Every topic discussed was followed by an exercise or workshop. The workshop outputs were posted on NUTRINET’s Facebook Page for viewing of the participants. A mini contest was held wherein the infographics which had the most reactions for 2 hours after posting was declared winner. DA-ATI with its infographic on healthy living tips  won with a total of 145 reactions and 18 shares.

In his takeaway message, Mr. Alo congratulated the participants for their outputs and the secretariat for a well-organized seminar-workshop. He ended his message with a suggestion to have a seminar on copywriting to supplement the infographics.
