The Nutrition Research Information Network (NUTRINET) conducted a forum via Zoom on Expanding Information Resource Sharing through Network Collaboration in celebration of its 34th anniversary on July 30, 2021.

The forum introduced the Network to prospective members for building additional alliances and partnerships with institutions who share similar goals and objectives in information resources sharing.

Dr. Imelda Angeles-Agdeppa, DOST-FNRI Director IV, and Scientist II, in her message as NUTRINET Governing Board Chair highlighted the importance of network collaboration, its purpose and benefits.

Dr. Agdeppa concluded her message by encouraging the participants “to work together to meet the nation's needs by making nutrition information accessible to everyone in the new normal”.

An Audiovisual Presentation (AVP) was shown to give the participants a glimpse of NUTRINET’s beginnings, many firsts, accomplishments, and activities that were appropriate for the new normal.

Dr. Milflor S. Gonzales, NUTRINET Technical Committee Chair and DOST-FNRI Chief Science Research Specialist of TDSTSD, introduced the Network to the participants.

Dr. Gonzales discussed the colors and symbols on the NUTRINET’s logo, followed by NUTRINET’s birth and its beginnings.

Dr. Gonzales also presented the Network’s objectives and organizational set-up, while also highlighting the Network’s member-institutions and benefits of being a member.

The NUTRINET’s many firsts cited by Dr. Gonzales included the: (1) first capability building activity on 1990, (2) maiden issue of NUTRINET newsletter on 1993, (3) first NutriFair on 1994, (4) first evaluation and planning workshop on 1994, (5) first membership expansion on 1999, (6) first Adopt-A-Library turnover ceremony on 2013, (7) first re-engineered NUTRINET Newsletter on 2016, and (8) first collaboration with professional organization on 2020.
