The Nutrition Research Information Network (NUTRINET) recently conducted the Online Training on Knowledge Management in the New Normal. The online training was in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology - Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI), and the Department of Health - Knowledge Management and Information Technology Service (DOH-KMITS). It was a four (4) half-day training conducted on September 1-4, 2020 via Zoom.

The objectives of the training were to build the capacity of participants on knowledge management and participants to become knowledge workers.

At the end of the training, the participants were expected to explain knowledge management (KM) concepts, principles, tools, and practices on KM; Identify the importance of KM in the accomplishment of individual tasks; Contextualize KM in their respective workplace; and Apply practical KM tools and techniques in managing individual, institutional and organizational knowledge.

Dr. Imelda Angeles-Agdeppa, NUTRINET Acting Governing Board Chair, Chief Science Research Specialist and Officer-in-Charge, Office of the  Director, DOST-FNRI, welcomed the participants. In her message, she pointed that “Because of this pandemic, there is a stronger appreciation for knowledge management, greater use of cloud service and accelerated digital transformation.”

The resource persons of the online training were Ms. Charity L. Tan, Chief of Knowledge Management Division, DOH-KMITS, Ms. Maricel C. Paya, Information Officer II of DOH-KMITS, Ms. Jomilynn R. Rebanal, Senior Administrative Assistant III of DOH-KMITS, Ms. Rosemary C. Tan, Project Officer I of DOH-KMITS, and Mr.   Kenneth Pierre B. Quijalvo, Information System Researcher I of DOH-KMITS.

Topics discussed in the training were: (1) Basic Concepts in Knowledge     Management, (2)  DOH KM Initiatives, (3) Personal KM, (4) Change             Management for KM, (5)  What is Organizational Knowledge, (6)  Tools for Managing Organizational Knowledge, (7)  Mentoring and Coaching in the New Normal, (8) Monitoring and Evaluation, and (9)  Practical KM Tools.

Dr. Milflor S. Gonzales, NUTRINET Technical Committee Chair and Chief Science Research Specialist of the TDSTSD of DOST-FNRI, gave the closing remarks. In her message, she thanked attendees for actively participating, doing and submitting their assignments and group workshops. She also thanked the resource persons for the knowledge they shared. She ended her message by encouraging everyone to be knowledge sharers and workers and manage knowledge efficiently and effectively.
