The Nutrition Research Information Network (NUTRINET) conducted its first-ever online seminar in partnership with Medical and Health Librarians Association of the Philippines, Inc. (MAHLAP) with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points for librarians. The NUTRINET Online Seminar on 5S and Food Safety during the New Normal was held on May 20, 2021.
The online seminar provided discussion on the application of 5S and food safety in the workplace and home. It also gave an overview of food safety measures during the new normal.
Dr. Imelda Angeles-Agdeppa, NUTRINET Governing Board Chair and DOST-FNRI Director IV and Scientist II, welcomed the participants. In her message, she highlighted that librarians are not only major health advocates, but also play critical roles in ensuring health awareness among their clients.
Ms. Emelorna E. Delgado, MAHLAP President, gave a message to the participants. In her message, she pointed out that the topics to be presented will be applicable not only in the workplace but also in their own home.
The resource persons of the online seminar were Ms. Czarina Teresita S. Martinez, DOST-FNRI SRS II, and Ms. Celina Ann J. Navarro, DOST-FNRI SRS I.
Topics presented were 5S of Good Housekeeping and Food Safety during the New Normal.
After each presentation, the resource persons responded to participants’ questions.
Dr. Ma. Lindie D. Masalinto, NUTRINET Capability Building Chair and Chief Librarian of University of Perpetual Health-Dr. Jose G. Tamayo Medical University, gave the closing remarks. In her message, she said that it has been proven that clean and organized workplace leads to improved employee attitudes and increased in workmanship. She ended her message by quoting Charles Darwin, ”It is not the strongest that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the most response to change”.
The event was attended by librarians from various sectors including from the academe, government, health services and allied professions.
